If we can share our story with someone who responds with empathy and understanding, shame can’t survive.

Whether you are new to therapy or not, here are answers to some questions you may have:

  • What happens after you contact me?

    • The decision to start therapy is an important one. Therefore, I do my best to return your call or email that same day or within 24 hours.

  • How do you know if it will be a good fit?

    • The therapeutic relationship is so important to successful outcomes. I want to ensure that this is a good fit, therefore I offer a 20 minute phone or in person meeting at no cost to learn more about your needs to see if I am the best fit for you. If not, I am happy to provide referrals to assist in helping you find a clinician that can best serve your needs.

  • What is needed prior to the first session?

    • After scheduling the first session, I will send you some paperwork electronically and ask you to complete it before you come in. I also ask that you contact your insurance company to ensure that you understand your coverage and any copays or deductibles before we meet.

  • What can you expect in the first session?

    • The first session will focus on getting to know you and what brought you to therapy. I will also gather some background information and learn about your expectations for therapy to begin identifying treatment goals.

  • How often are sessions scheduled?

    • I strongly recommend weekly sessions in the beginning to establish rapport and to address your treatment goals. I also understand that your work or travel demands may affect scheduling and I will accommodate accordingly. As treatment progresses, we can discuss decreasing the frequency of sessions.
